Wild West
As a child, playing games like "stuck in the mud" on the farm with my sister, I developed a deep and intimate bond with the earth and land. This tactile and visceral connection has become a recurring theme in my work, embodying a dance of peace and passion, shadow and light, which brings equilibrium and grounds me—a wonderful interplay of opposing forces.
This energy is sometimes achieved through discreet scrawls and unpainted sections of the canvas, reflecting the Japanese philosophy of yutori—making space. This approach allows the space to suggest and provide a meaningful refuge from life's intensity and the overriding desire for busyness and productivity.
SIZE – 400 x 300 mm unframed size

ABOUT THE ARTIST
I’m drawn to the quiet power of nature—how its shifting rhythms echo our inner world. Part of my childhood was spent on a farm near Matakana in Aotearoa, forming a deep, tactile bond with the environment.
With a fascination in psychology, decades in design and textiles, and eight formative years in Florence, Italy. I now create intuitive paintings that celebrate softness as strength—offering a space for compassion to feel, reconnect, and discover beauty within.
I’m an abstract expressionist eco-painter, working with non-toxic, earth pigments, creating rich velvet-like mindscapes that explore the sensorial and healing relationship with the land.
